Boat Trip

A little while back I went on a boat trip around the Norfolk Broads. We hired out a boat for the afternoon to go exploring and I managed to take some photos throughout my trip.
...

This the boating park where we picked up our boat that we had rented for the afternoon.

When we began our trip along the broads we passed several other boats that were parked nearby and we were also greeted by a swan bobbing along the water.

About ten minutes into the trip we passed a heron on the river bank sun bathing in the glorious sunlight. I was quite surprised that I managed to take the photo of the heron in such good quality, since we were moving quite quickly past it.

The sky was a beautiful blue the whole boat trip which meant that it was perfect lighting for taking pictures.

I managed to get some 'arty' shots of the water brushing past the safety buoys. I thought that the outcome was quite effective.

Especially in the sunlight out boat was a brilliant shade of red. Our boat was a decent size and could hold about 4-5 people. I think that by hiring a boat for the afternoon is could holiday activity to do because you could create a picnic and take it on board and then eat it throughout the boat trip.

There were many swans about on the broads enjoying the decent weather.

Where the boat trip was held is where there are many homes that have been built right near the water. This windmill house is one of many of the beautiful homes along the broads. These people will often have their own boats so that they travel about the broads during the day. However, I think these house are more holiday homes since living by the water in the winter is probably not that pleasant.

I would definitely recommend doing this activity because it gives you and your family the opportunity of exploring a place in a different view. Boat trips are certainly fun because you also get to learn how to steer a boat along the river which is a great experience to gain.

Sunset Barbecue

Barbecues in the summer are a definite must. Summer holidays are the best time to have a barbecue, in my opinion, since the weather is usually warm enough to stay outside and regardless what time of day it is the food is always delicious! During my holiday in Norfolk this year it was decided to go out for a barbecue on the beach when the sun was setting. I think sunset is one of the most prettiest times of day since the colours are so vibrate and the light is usually great for taking pictures.
During my sunset barbecue on Cley Beach I took some photos to share my experience with you.
...

I love watching the sunset because it amazes me how quickly the sun can disappear from the horizon and the colour changes from light to dark are beautiful.

The barbecue was a success even if it was a little risky. We used camping stoves and lots of fire lighters in order to cook the sausages for our sausage sandwiches. Once the fire was lit the sausages were sizzling in the pan and of course the outcome was delicious.

During the evening a little boat started to bob across the sea. Even in this photo you can see the light and the colour changing into a musky pinky-orange colour.

Here the sun was very low and the sky was full of bright orange fire.

This photo was taken just before the sun completely disappeared out of sight. The smudge of pink that was the sun in the purple sky just looked beautiful.

This is a photo of the village that was just down the road from the beach that we visited after the beach barbecue. There was still some light in the sky but the colours had completely transformed from luscious orange to a deep blue. I really like this photo because the lights from the buildings have reflected in the waters making a mirror image of the scene.
...

Barbecues are a great way to get out of the house and have a bit of risky fun during the summer. I definitely enjoyed watching the sun go down whilst munching on a sausage sandwiches, I certainly recommend doing this for a day/night out with the family.

Southerndown Beach

This weekend I went and stayed for a couple of days in Cowbridge, a market town in the Vale of Glamorgan in Wales. Whilst I was there I got to spend a day out down Southerndown Beach, which is about half an hour drive away from where I was staying. The weather started off to be cloudy, but later on in the afternoon the sun came out and weather turned the beach into a glorious landscape.
...

Surrounding Southerndown Beach are many cliffs that overlook the sea and also look down onto the beach. When driving to the beach you drive along the cliffs and the views are stunning, especially at sunset.

When the sky cleared up it was so bright and sunny. I really like the shape of the clouds and think that they make the picture. They stand out and also enhance the beautiful landscape of the cliffs and the whole beach.

The sky was so blue and the sun reflected off the sea, making it sparkle as the waves were calmly rolling into the shore and disappearing after a few seconds back into the sea.

There were also many beautiful shells hiding away in the bright green seaweed and barnacles.

Along with the gorgeous sea there were also many rock pools around Southerndown Beach, in which many sea life spend their time; including craps and shells with mysterious creatures hiding inside them.

Here is one of the creatures that I found hiding in its shell, refusing to come out for a photo.
...

Southerndown Beach is a great place to go to in the summer. I would definitely recommend going there for a day out, but make sure you check the weather forecast beforehand! If you do decide to go to Southerndown Beach I hope you have a wonderful time and remember to wear sun cream.

Summer Flowers

Since the weather today was so lovely and sunny, I went for a walk around some beautiful flower gardens near Roath Park in Cardiff. The weather was perfect and the colours of the flowers were incredible and so eye catching I had to take some photos. Here is a collection of photos of the stunning flowers from the flower garden.
...

I hope you like these photos I took of the gorgeous flowers, I highly recommend visiting the Roath Park Flower Gardens for a day out or an afternoon stroll, especially on a sunny day so that the vibrant colours of the flowers are on show.

A Trip to Sicily

I went on a school trip to the island of Sicily to embrace the Sicilian Culture. I will say now that the culture over there is very different to the culture here in Britain. Everyone seemed to either be very laid back or in a rush in Sicily. But obviously being in Sicily, the beautiful Italian language would be ringing out from every direction. Here are some photos from my adventure to Sicily.

...

Day 1 - Travelling to Sicily and visiting Catania

Here is the view from the aeroplane window at sunrise when I was travelling over to Sicily.

When we landed we got onto a coach and travelled into Catania where we saw many streets filled with beautiful, rustic buildings.

We were on the hunt for some traditional Italian food and couldn't resist some pizza. If you ever go to Italy I highly recommend you should treat your tastebuds on some classic pizza because it is obviously the best thing to eat there.

I fell in love with all the Sicilian buildings because of the colours and quirkiness of the architecture.

When walking through the streets of Sicily we came across some interesting graffiti artwork by the artist C215. The contrast between the black and white of the paint worked really well with the urban street walls.

Our next stop was the Cavea of the Greek-Roman Theatre. It was really interesting to be able to see the ruins of an old Greek-Roman theatre and finding out about how it was built.

We even saw some cats at the theatre!
...

Day 2 - Giardini-Naxos and Taormina

On the second day of our trip we were luckily enough to have some sunny and warm weather to go down to the coast and soak up some rays.

The weather so lovely, which made it even better to photos of the beautiful landscapes.

Palm trees in Giardini-Naxos

We then moved off to travel up to the Ancient theatre of Taormina. The views were phenomenal since you could see the whole coast from the theatre.

Mount Edna in the distance

After visiting the theatre we then walked into the centre of Taormina and the views just kept getting better.
...

Day 3 - Isola di Oritgia

Sadly on the third day in Sicily it tipped it down with rain so we couldn't explore Isola di Ortigia in much depth.

This was the restaurant that we managed to find in the pouring rain and couldn't resist trying the pasta  that they served.

However, about midday the sun came out and brighten up the area just as we were passing the Duomo di Siracusa.

I also fell in love with architecture in  Isola di Ortigia. All the colours were so eye catching you couldn't help but take photos. After visiting  Isola di Ortigia we then had a three hour journey across the island to Agrigento, where we were going to be staying for the last two days of the trip.
...

Day 4 - Agrigento, Valley of the Temples

For our final full day in Sicily we embarked an adventure to the Valley of the Temples.
The weather was perfect for the final day. It was sunny all day and it made the temples look even more stunning.

This was the first temple that we saw, the Temple of Juno.

Temple of Concord

Temple of Heracles

After finishing at the valley of the temples we then travelled to Castelvetrano and explored the temples there. This temple is called the Temple of Hera.

A ruin of one of the temples.

For the last temple we had to walk in the sunshine from the Temple of Hera to this temple near the sea.
...

Day 5 - Travelling home

For the final day we had to travel back across the island to the airport.

Once again I took a photo from the window of the aeroplane on the flight back. This time it was took at sunset.
...

The trip to Sicily was an amazing adventure that gave me a great opportunity to take many photos.
If you ever travel to Sicily I definitely recommend visiting all the temples, they were so mind blowing and the weather just made it even better.
